Why do I need a plan manager?

A fair question, and one plenty of people ask after their plan is approved. Here is the short version, without the jargon.

A woman in a wheelchair at a desk by a window, holding a mug, with a laptop open beside her.

Your NDIS plan sets money aside for the supports you need. Someone has to pay those invoices, keep the records the NDIS asks for, and make sure every claim follows the rules.

The NDIS gives you three ways to handle that part.

Self-managed
You pay your providers and claim the money back yourself. The most flexibility, and the most paperwork.
NDIA-managed
The NDIS pays your providers for you. No paperwork, but you choose from a set list of providers.
Plan-managed
Someone like us sits in the middle. We pay your providers, keep the records and handle the NDIS side of it, and you still choose who supports you.

Why is it set up this way?

The NDIS is built around you choosing your own supports. That choice means invoices coming in from all sorts of providers, and government funding comes with rules about how it gets spent. Rather than make you become a bookkeeper to use your own plan, the scheme pays for someone to do that part for you.

It does not come out of your supports

This is the part that surprises people. Plan management is funded separately in your plan, on top of the money for your therapy, your support workers and everything else. Choosing a plan manager does not take a dollar away from your supports.

What it looks like day to day

You get your supports. Your provider sends us the invoice. We check it, pay it, and keep the record. You can see where your funding is up to whenever you want.

And if something does not look right, you ring us and a person answers.

Still not sure?

Ring us and ask. We will tell you straight, including if we are not the right fit for you.
